I have been committed to building an outstanding higher education system in Collin County since i was first elected to the founding Collin College Board of Trustees in 1985.

Today, my passion to serve and over three decades of experience drive me to pursue re-election for a seventh term.

As current Chairman of the Board, I believe in the importance of establishing educational opportunities at Collin College that are second to none. During my tenure, I have seen the district grow to 58,000 students, build seven campuses and facilities with two more under construction and become one of the largest community college districts in the state. I am proud that the district is among the lowest in the state in terms of tuition and tax rate.

I hold a strong commitment to my family and my community. My wife, Claude Ann, and I have been married for 58 years and have been residents of Collin County for nearly 53 years – 17 in Plano and 36 on our farm in Farmersville.  We have been active in various community organizations and church members in both Plano and Farmersville.  I currently serve as an adjunct professor of management for the College of Business at Texas A&M University-Commerce where previously I served as Senior Lecturer and Executive in Residence. Prior to that, I was a Corporate Officer for a Fortune 500 company.  My accomplishments also include serving as:

  • Member and chairman of the Plano Planning and Zoning Commission;

  • Member and Mayor Pro Tem of the Plano City Council;

  • Member and Chairman of the Collin County Central Appraisal District Board;

  • Member and Chairman of the Farmersville Economic Development Corporation;

  • Member of the Farmersville TIRZ Board;

  • Member of the Collin County Economic Recovery Task Force

I hold a Ph.D. and Master’s degree in Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Masters degree in Business from the University of Dallas, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Lamar University. I am a member of Rotary in Farmersville and (formerly) Plano.

As a member of the Board of Trustees, I will continue to serve with a vision of empowering the students of today to become difference-makers of the future.
